Recently I’ve talked with some people that think that the luxury cruise market is only for the uber-rich, or star-struck contest winners that wander around Titanic-like ships with first and third classes. They worry about dress codes, fork placement, the dreaded last-day invoice, and a whole host of possible faux-pas they could make while onboard, like stumbling into the Captain’s personal brandy stash, and being thrown overboard for “bad form”.

This incredible piece of human engineering, dreamt up by the ambitious King Charles V of Spain, took around 75,000 workers over 10 long years to complete and throughout the construction was beleaguered by a range of problems, from financial bankruptcy, very poor project management and serious outbreaks of malaria that killed many of the workers.

We’ve got some great ideas. From exotic Krabi to the golden sands of Bora Bora, from Santorini to the shopping paradise of Singapore, we think it’s time to travel. Even if you’re only going as far as the nearest beach.
Get a tan. You know that Vitamin D is good for you. Go hiking in the Alps - the mountain meadows there are so gorgeous, they’re practically to die for.
Travelling will help you break your usual monotonous cycle, it’ll get you away from the economic depression in the US, where the depressed residential market is causing stocks to fall all around the world. A facial and spa massage will ease those worries and you’ll be feeling so much better.
So look for that friendly neighbourhood travel agent of yours and book a little getaway. Lake Como has been having some fabulous weather, we hear.
